About the Work: Many times when creating an Ocean Wash, I will let the ocean and wind take control. In Pelican Perch, the vibrant colors and sand patterns came together beautifully. After drying, the pelican image emerged against a gorgeous sky and appeared to be perched on a boulder. Similar to Monet’s snow landscapes, there are so many underlying colors that sparkle through the upper layers. Pelican Perch contains all the elements that I hope to achieve in all art…there is energy in composition, form, space and colors. This piece was a fun piece to work on from beginning to end and I hope it brings the viewer as much joy as it did for me.
