Ocean Wash and Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 36" x 48";  Artist Statement: How does one create imagery for a spiritual passion? “Embracing the Spirit of the Horse” was begun with pure desire but no visual references which is a scary place for most artists…certainly for me. Horses and the ocean have always been meaningful and present for me. We had horses on the farm I grew up on, so I was fortunate to watch how they navigated life through every type of weather. Strength, beauty and freedom are what horses symbolize and clearly on display while watching a horse in their natural state. The ocean has always been a place to renew one’s soul. I have spent many days enjoying the ocean for its tranquility and nourishing peacefulness. To merge the qualities of the horse and ocean were the definitive challenge. The ocean imagery and horses contain different design characteristics and elements within the composition that may have meaning or purpose. The horses may have varied energies and intentions in “Embracing the Spirit of the Horse”. When reflecting on the placement and elements of design, are some attributes hidden yet present?
