Bending Ballerina

Bending Ballerina

$800.00Price

Oil on Canvas, in Custom Off-White and Black Double Frame, 39" x 21"

Side note:

I actually painted this piece close to 30 years ago for my personal collection. It was a "pivotal" piece for me as painted blues and jazz artists and many dance figures in this expressionistic style. The style and series sold well in the Chicago area. 30 years later, I am now willing to separate myself from this piece. Originally, this piece would sell in Chicago for $1,200, then I lowered it to $800 to find a good and appreciative home.

Artist Statement: Ballet is such a vibrant and demonstrative form of visual art that it seemed natural to use the Expressionism Art Style in articulate my immense enjoyment of the dance form. In “Bending Ballerina”, I chose to use the primary colors but in a vibrant collision of paint strokes to create an emotional response to the beauty of the dancers' form. In elongating the shapes and perspective to the figure, I hope I have paid homage to the extraordinary complexity that the art form of dance provides.
